What if it is done vice versa?

I think answer is wrong. Because the Engine will run at lower rpm.

Take 100ml fuel and try to burn at low pressure or atmospheric pressure they can't burn because diesel have specific property is to ignite requirements higher pressure and also diesel have higher density so they can't rapidly vaporise or atomise so oxygen and diesel can't mix properly because of atomising.

If we increase the Pressure that mean we mix air and diesel by forcely (pressure) so diesel get much amount of air and pressure so they ignite but here petrol engine have lower compression ratio so it can not generate that much pressure.

If we increas. The compression ratio then it chance to burn of diesel in petrol engine but not smooth because of spark plauge.

Spark plague burn fuel before sufficient pressure generate it may problem of knocking.

Because ex - take a 100ml diesel spray on the road at atmosphere pressure and try to burn by using fire device the cannot run because the diesel required sufficient pressure to ignition. It is it specific property.

Because diesel is heavier then petrol and need more compression to evaporate and burn.

Hence diesel will not burn in petrol engine.
