The Right answer is (A) Cohesion.

D is the correct option because the wetting and non-wetting phenomenon is due to cohesion and adhesion.

I think option A is correct. Capillarity is the property of both cohesion and adhesion. But surface tension is due to cohesion only it does not involve adhesion. As cohesive force is higher than adhesion in mercury it does not wet the glass.

Cohesive Force between Hg molecules is the reason behind Surface Tension of Hg. So I think the Cohesive Force is the right answer. Because without Cohesive Force there is no Surface Tension.

As we know that mercury shows upward movement with convex shape which is due to the cohesion property. Surface tension is also due to cohesion. So both are correct.

As surface tension is due to cohesive force only. Surface tension is correct. But according to me cohesion is the exact answer.

Surface tension is the property however cohesion is the force.
