Cohesive Force between Hg molecules is the reason behind Surface Tension of Hg. So I think the Cohesive Force is the right answer. Because without Cohesive Force there is no Surface Tension.

I think option A is correct. Capillarity is the property of both cohesion and adhesion. But surface tension is due to cohesion only it does not involve adhesion. As cohesive force is higher than adhesion in mercury it does not wet the glass.

D is the correct option because the wetting and non-wetting phenomenon is due to cohesion and adhesion.

The Right answer is (A) Cohesion.

No, mercury does not wet the glass because it is metal.

Yes, surface tension is due to cohesion only. So, both A&D are correct answer.

When it is asking about property, it is surface tension. If it is asking about force then it is cohesive force, because cohesion and adhesion are the molecular attractive forces.

I think Hg does not wet the glass due to the virtue of cohesion as in the cohesion, atoms get together only with similar atoms of the same material.

It's a matter of surface tension. The surface tension of the liquid, and the surface tension of the glass, determine how far a liquid will "spread" on the glass.
Mercury has a high surface tension, which maintains its spherical shape. Water has a much lower surface tension.

No, adhesion is correct because water posses both cohesion and adhesion property. And HG posses only cohesion.
