If capillary tube dipped in water the water will raise in the tube so there is a concave shape formed when water raised. If it is dipped in mercury then hg falls due to cohesive forces then there is a convex shape formed.

Capillary rise will happen because the adhesive force is greater than cohesive force hence angle <90 hence concave is right.
