The axial pump is a pump in which fluid flows axially to the rotation of the propeller. In Axial flow, the fluid flows parallel to the axis of rotation, as in a turbine. Axial flow pump contains a propeller or centrifugal impeller in the casing.

Axial Flow Pump is preferred for flood control and irrigation applications.

Centrifugal pump is the correct answer.

@Yash Bro Kaplan is a turbine, not a pump. You don't req mechanical motion in cases of irrigation and flood XD.

I also agree the answer is Centrifugal pump.

As when we talk about irrigation. We require low head & higher speed pump. This condition is only satisfied in Kaplan turbine which is axial flow reation turbine.

Axial flow pump is used for irrigation and flood control as it has higher discharge than other pumps.

Axial flow is the right answer as in question it's mentioned "for very high discharge ".

Axial flow discharge is more compared to Centrifugal.
