Because of impeller creating kinetic energy and then volute casing convert the kinetic energy to pressure energy.

In vortex pump (variable velocity volute pump) , vortex chamber provides additional space (area) to liquid while passing from impeller outlet to volute passage. This decreases the velocity of liquid. Due to decrease in velocity, pressure increases radially from centre outwards. Thus the K. E. Is converted into pressure energy.
