m = 2j-3.
m - no. of members.
j - no. of joints.
Example:
m = 8.
j = 5.
Then 8 = 2(5)-3.
8 = 10-3 = 7.
Here, 8 doesn't equal to 7 then, structure is imperfect.

if m=2j-3-------->Truss is perfect,stable.
if m>2j-3-------->stable,redundant.
if m>2j-3-------->unstable,imperfect.

For a perfect structure no of joints i.e. 2j-3 is equal to no of members.
For imperfect both of different figures.
