The screw jack works similar to the inclined plane, as the effort required for lifting the load is more than the lower the load and vice versa.
To raise, P=W tan (α + θ).
To Lower, P=W tan (α - θ).
To raise, P=W tan (α + θ).
To Lower, P=W tan (α - θ).
