Firing order is set to balance the crankshaft in engine to reduce the impact from the connecting rod in series firing. If the firing order is kept in series as 1234 the load impact falls in crankshaft from front to back and the crankshaft will rotate with imbalance and will create heavy vibration to the engine. It will lead to bend the crankshaft in long run in high temperature.

Simply the firing order is set just to BALANCE THE ENGINE.
If the order goes as 1-2-3-4, it loses its balance because as an Engineers we know well that the spark produced at the time of ignition process is almost equals to give a 12000 volts. Only to balance, the firing order is must for every engine.

Firing never occurs simultaneously in all the cylinders. If so, vibrations become uncomfortable and charged in the cylinders is not evenly distributed. In general order adopted is 1-3-4-2 or 1-3-2-4 in 4 cylinder in line engines.

There is no spark plug in a diesel so firing orders do not apply but the valve timing is usually set up to go 1-3-2-4 for balance of the engine. Then the answer is 1-3-4-2. This is right 1-3-2-4. This is right. Explain clearly.

The firing order is so set because if the cylinders are fired in adjacent order like 1-2-3-4 or 1-3-4-2 (note no to adj cylinders should be fired) the heat generated will be more and will be difficult to carry away the heat.

Firing order is used to set the clearance (gap between valves and top cylinder). It depends on the rotation of camshaft that based on the position of each cam for each valves.

Sorry brother @Nilesh Kumar. That is IC engine NOT CI Engine an ICE is fed with fossil fuels like natural gas or petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel or fuel oil.

Brother @Ramesh. Both CI & SI (compressed ignition & spark Ignition) engine are named as IC engines. (Internal combustion engine).

For 6 cylinder engine there are many possibility, for eg 1-4-6-3-4-2, 153624, 143625.

Both 1-3-4-2 and 1-2-4-3 are used in IC engine. But 1-3-4-2 is used more widely.
