Compression/ pressure rings.

The compression ring is usually placed on the top of the piston head that is the side of the combustion chamber. Its main function is to seal combustion gases from the combustion chamber/ cylinder from leaking down into the crankcase. It also transfers heat from the piston to the cylinder walls. Due to its positioning, it is sometimes referred to as the top ring in some engines.
