Both A&B answer are correct because in multi cylinder engines, if the gasket is not there the engine oil enters combustion chamber it leads to abnormal combustion, this results in starting of the engine & causes lot noice.

A is the exact answer to preventing engine oil from going into combustion chamber work is piston ring.
