If no reasonable independence between "old" stage and "flowering stage" is taken into account, C will be the answer, obviously.

However, if there are only two states: "old" and "flowering" independently, the question itself makes contradicting pieces of information, haha.

The question does not state that sandal and ashoka trees are the only trees comprising the forest. It only says the number of ashoka trees= number of sandal trees.

So if Forest has 100 trees in total out of which say 2 are sandal trees so, ashoka trees= 2. Other 96 trees are there in the forest as well.

No, according to me, the solution is wrong. Suppose there are 50 sandals and 50 Ashoka.
As per qn, 3/4th are old i.e. 75 trees are old.
Let's say all 50 sandals are old and only 25 Ashoka (i.e. One one-half of Ashoka is old). Thus, option C would be correct.

3/4th trees are old ones hence consider it may be Ashoka and Sandal both and the other half it flowering, hence, there is one part wherein it may consist trees which do not go with either old or flowring, hence the option E fulfills the answer.

Let there be x ashoka and x sandal trees.now total trees equals 2x.
out of these 3/4th i.e. 1.5x are old. Therefore atleast half of both the trees has to be old.

So, answer is (c).

Question states a forest consisting of Ashoka and Sandalwood trees. If forest has only two types of trees then option C is correct. Else it is option E

Three fourth of tree are old then 1/4 tree are flowering and here half of the trees are flowering. So here is contradiction.

If 3/4th trees are old then 1/4th should be flowering stage if 1/2 trees are old then 1/2 trees should be flowering stage.

Clearly they asked what is the statement that is following the statement.

So we cannot say C is correct.

No information is provided if the two types of tress are the only types preset in the forest. Hence 'E'.
