Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

24.

Statement: Apart from the entertainment value of television, its educational value cannot be ignored.

Assumptions:

  1. People take television to be a means of entertainment only.
  2. The educational value of television is not realised properly.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The statement makes the first assumption clear though educational value is not to be ignored. So, I is implicit. That the educational value must not be ignored also shows that educational value is not realised properly. So, II is also implicit.

1 is not implicit because there is no information about people. But the first one contains use of people. So only 2 is implicit.

I think Only 2 is implicit.

How one could be implicit where it says the people "only" use television for entertainment purpose, whereas in the statement it is clear that television has both sides but nothing about the audience's preference.

Neither I nor II implicit.

Nothing has said in the statement, for which means people take television.

And the realisation of people on educational purpose of television, so both are not implicit.

The statement is always true even it goes against our common sense or logical perception.

The statement said, " Apart from the entertainment value of television, its educational value cannot be ignored".

It made a clear emphasis on the education value being ignored by the people so people are using it for entertainment purposes only.

If the statement says so we have to oblige to it cause the statement is always true in statements and assumptions topic.
