Logical Reasoning - Statement and Assumption - Discussion

Discussion Forum : Statement and Assumption - Section 2 (Q.No. 3)
Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

3.

Statement: "Computer education should start at schools itself."

Assumptions:

  1. Learning computers is easy.
  2. Computer education fetches jobs easily.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Clearly, computer education can be started at the school level only if it is easy. So, I is implicit. In the statement, nothing is mentioned about the link between jobs and computer education. So, II is not implicit.

None of the statements are implicit.

Nursery schools are also schools but one cannot add computers to their curriculum.

Who says every taught in schools is easy?

The point of school is to challenge students and it is those challenges that teach lessons to students. One learns from failure as well, if it was all easy one would assume that no one would fail a thing. The answer is D.

If not then I assume that the person marking this answer had really easy teachers in school.

I have to agree with everyone here.

The answer should be D. If it was easy, it wouldn't need to be taught. Quantum Mechanics isn't easy, but guess where that's taught. The entire reason for going to school is to be taught something, easy or not.

Here the point is its importance. Computer education is important to learn in schools itself. There is no point of easiness or fetching jobs. None of the options are implicit.

Math is not easy it is available in school right? how can one say if it is easy or not?

Wrong answer, it should be neither.

I do agree that option (D) should be the correct one. But can anyone clarify how is option (a) correct?

Ria said:   8 years ago
I also think D because the assumption should have been its important to lean computer education.

No relation with the statement. D will be the correct one.

If one says that computers should be taught at schools, he must have assumed that it is an easy subject because schools are a place of elementary edu; tougher things are taught at colleges. You can't assume urself that calculus is tough. Its that man thinking who give that statement. You have to think like that. Not based on your thinking whether maths is tough for you or not.
