Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give answer

  • (A) If only assumption I is implicit
  • (B) If only assumption II is implicit
  • (C) If either I or II is implicit
  • (D) If neither I nor II is implicit
  • (E) If both I and II are implicit.

12.

Statement: Detergents should be used to clean clothes.

Assumptions:

  1. Detergents form more lather.
  2. Detergents help to dislodge grease and dirt.

Only assumption I is implicit
Only assumption II is implicit
Either I or II is implicit
Neither I nor II is implicit
Both I and II are implicit
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Nothing is mentioned about lather formation by the detergent. So, I is not implicit. Also, detergents should be used as they clean clothes better and more easily. So, II is implicit.

D should be the correct option.

Reason: Both of the options do not clearly point out the reason to use detergents.

Like Detergents form a lather, and dislodges dirt or grease but so does soap. If there was a statement that soaps are harsh on clothes and detergent is mild then the statement could be justified.

I think the answer for this q would be both I and ii i.e. (e). Because for (i) to clean a cloth, the detergent should generate lather. (ii) detergent obviously help in removing grease and dirt.

Yes, According to me as well it should be "D" because in the statement if nothing has been mentioned about the rather then same goes for grease and dirt.

If we focus on scientific reason of its operation then it includes lather formation along with which the dust particles got stuck and gets removed.

The correct answer is C.

Because as it is not given that the detergent is good and it will properly remove all the dirt and grease.
