Discussion Forum : Statement and Assumption - Section 6 (Q.No. 15)
Directions to Solve

In each question below is given a statement followed by three assumptions numbered I, II and III. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions, decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement and choose your answer accordingly.

15.

Statement: "Z-T.V, the only T.V. which gives the viewers a chance to watch two programmes simultaneously." - An advertisement.

Assumptions:

  1. Sale of Z-T.V will increase because of the advertisement.
  2. Some people may be influenced by the advertisement and buy Z-T.V.
  3. The sale of Z-T.V. may be on the downward trend.

None is implicit
All are implicit
Only I and II are implicit
Only II and III are implicit
None of these
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The effect of the advertisement cannot be deduced. So, I is not implicit. However, the advertisement is given so as to influence people and encourage them to buy Z-T.V. So, II is implicit. Also, it is quite possible that the sale of Z-T.V. is declining, which has provoked the company owners to advertise for their products. So, III is implicit.

If people are influenced by advertisment of z tv then also it would effect on the demand of the same. So 1 should also be implicit.

Assumption 1 and 3 can't be deduced from the statement. It can't be related.

III assumption is using 'may' word,. So thus, can be included.

Only II is implicit. Companies advertise heavily for products that just arrive to market with no knowledge of sales numbers. Therefore III is not implicit.

Only II is implicit, because it is not necessary that when growth decreases, company advertises and also no proof of I.

Many companies believes that if they advertise their sales will increase, in fact advertisements reach and success are measured only by the sales so companies clearly assumes that advertisement will increase their sales.
