Logical Reasoning - Number Series - Discussion

Discussion Forum : Number Series - Type 1 (Q.No. 19)
Directions to Solve
In each series, look for the degree and direction of change between the numbers. In other words, do the numbers increase or decrease, and by how much

19.
Look at this series: 8, 6, 9, 23, 87 , ... What number should come next?
128
226
324
429
Answer: Option
Explanation:

8 x 1 - 2 = 6
6 x 2 - 3 = 9
9 x 3 - 4 = 23
23 x 4 - 5 = 87
87 x 5 - 6 = 429 ...

Yes ! Your Right Sir after 429 number should come next 2567.

It is 429*6-7= 2567 so that again calculate continuously...

In Type 1 this is the only question that required logical thinking, rest all questions were comparatively very easy.

Very easy:

8*1 = 8-2 = 6.
6*2 = 12-3 = 9.
9*3 = 27-4 = 23.
23*4 = 92-5 = 87.
87*5 = 435-6 = 429.

So answer is 429.

@Arthi.

It is a sequence of cubes.

So,
1^3 = 1.
2^3 = 8.
3^3 = 27.
4^3 = 64 .

Therefore, the answer is 64.

Thank you very much, it's very useful for me. Now I understand the method to solve the number series problems.

Solve this 1, 8, 27, ?.

a) 37 b) 47 c) 51 d) 64

Here d) 64 is the right answer. How? Please explain anyone.

According to me the explanation is not enough and clear that is why anyone is not able to solve the problem?

8 * 1 = 8 - 2 = 6.
6 * 2 = 12 - 3 = 9,
9 * 3 = 27 - 4 = 23,
23 * 4 = 92 - 5 = 87,
87 * 5 = 435 - 6 = 429.

9 * 3 = 27 - 4 = 23,
23 * 4 = 92 - 5 = 87,
87 * 5 = 435 - 6 = 429.

Well it depends on the question to create a logic. Only one logic is not enough to find the next term.
