Logical Reasoning - Number Series - Discussion
Discussion Forum : Number Series - Type 1 (Q.No. 17)
Directions to Solve
In each series, look for the degree and direction of change between the numbers. In other words, do the numbers increase or decrease, and by how much
17.
Look at this series: 2, 6, 18, 54, ... What number should come next?

One more logic is if you add two consecutive numbers then the digit at unit place will be there in next number going by that;.
2+6=8 1'8'.
8+16=24 5'4'.
16+54=72 and in options, their is only one option having '2'.
On unit place which is 162.
2+6=8 1'8'.
8+16=24 5'4'.
16+54=72 and in options, their is only one option having '2'.
On unit place which is 162.

Hi.
This is najju.
It is 2 methods.
1. Take first number 2 and multiply by 3.
2*3=6.
6*3=18.
18*3=54.
54*3=162.
Or.
In easy step.
Add each number 3 times.
2+2+2=6.
6+6+6=18.
18+18+18=54.
54+54+54=162.

This series (2, 6, 18, 54, ...) followed with multiplied by 3.
(2)*3 = (6)*3 = (18)*3 = (54)*3 = (162).
So answer is: 162.
(2)*3 = (6)*3 = (18)*3 = (54)*3 = (162).
So answer is: 162.

6*3 = 18.
18*3 = 54.
54*3 = 162 is correct answer.
6*3 = 18.
18*3 = 54.
54*3 = 162 is correct answer.

2*9 = 18.
6*9 = 54.
18*9 = 162.
6*9 = 54.

It can also be like this:
Series:- 2, 6, 18, 54..
2*1=2.
2*3=6 So 3+6=9.
2*9=18 So 9+18=27.
2*27=54 So 54+27=81.
2*81=162.
Series:- 2, 6, 18, 54..
2*1=2.
2*3=6 So 3+6=9.
2*9=18 So 9+18=27.
2*27=54 So 54+27=81.
2*81=162.

Hi. It's easy.
First, you need 3 times to each number like this.
2, 6, 18, 54.
2 * 3 = 6.
6 * 3 = 18.
18 * 3 = 54.
54 * 3 = 162.
And so on
First, you need 3 times to each number like this.
2, 6, 18, 54.
2 * 3 = 6.
6 * 3 = 18.
18 * 3 = 54.
54 * 3 = 162.
And so on

Why not this can follow this rule.
02 + 4*(3^0) = 6.
06 + 4*(3^1) = 18.
18 + 4*(3^2) = 54.
54 + 4*(3^3) = 108 ?
This can also be possible. isn't it ?
02 + 4*(3^0) = 6.
06 + 4*(3^1) = 18.
18 + 4*(3^2) = 54.
54 + 4*(3^3) = 108 ?
This can also be possible. isn't it ?

Why it cant be 108 by logic?
2 * 3 = 6
3 * 6 = 18
6 * 9 = 54
9 * 12 = 108.
Also, 108 is given in option.
2 * 3 = 6
3 * 6 = 18
6 * 9 = 54
9 * 12 = 108.
Also, 108 is given in option.

Multiplying by 3.
2 * 3=6,
6 * 3=18,
18 * 3=54,
54 * 3=162.
162 is the answer.
2 * 3=6,
6 * 3=18,
18 * 3=54,
54 * 3=162.
162 is the answer.
