Yes, I get it.

As in the first statement, the hotel is two blocks from the drugstore.

So the drugstore is at the centre, and on its right there is a hotel.

In the second statement, the market is one block west of the hotel. So we make the north south are east west for the hotel. So on the left side (west side) there is a market.

The third statement says that, drugstore is west of the market.
So we just have to mention east west for the market, as we say it is west of the hotel, whereas the hotel is east of the drugstore means the market is in between. Now we just have to tell the location of the drugstore from the market. So it's west.

So, true is right answer.

As we know that North is always on the up side of map. So consider a map where drug store is in neutral position and hotel is 2 block east of drug store . Then think of 1 block west in respect to hotel. Then
(north)
(West)drug store-market-hotel(east)
(South)
'-' = one block

The drugstore is west of the market but the market is east of the drugstore

(West) ---- drugstore ---- market ---- hotel ---- (east).

If we are standing at the market then the drugstore will be to our west but if we are standing at the drugstore then the market will be to our east.

The question formation is inappropriate, because in the first statement it is given the hotel is 2 blocks east of the drugstore. So in that case we will take the first statement in granted. Then analyse the second one. This is according to my opinion. If I am wrong, then kindly explain me to rectify.

For example take your house and your neighbours house.

Your house has east, west, north, south directions and your neighbours too have that directions. Right.

So here the hotel has its directions and market & drugstore too have.

So (west). Drugstore. Market. Hotel. (east).

The hotel is two blocks east of the drugstore means hotel is in east.

The market is one block west of the hotel means market is in west to hotel.

Actually in the Question there is written The hotel is two blocks east of the drugstore. So how could it lies in west of the market?

Sharon said:   1 decade ago
Its sortta simple first comes the hotel then 1 block west lies the market and 2 blocks west lies the drugstore.

                         (North)
:
:
(West)-------drugstore----market------hotel------(East)
:
:
(South)

So when we see the hotel lies on the east side of the drugstore!
