It is unclear, whether the lines are electrical that provide power to the house or telephone wires that establish the communication.

These are electric wires hence the answer should be house and not telephone. I think the given analogy is incorrect.

Three cables have been shown on the poles - which means electric cables & not telephone cable which should be only one cable. So the analogy is correct!
