I believe hard work is a well done huge project has been done under a good management and organisation with all achievements.
Smart work is related to the result of any improvement which upgrades the same huge project and turns it into a motivated project.

Hard-work and smart work both belongs to each other there is a relation between them if we want to crack any exam we plan and trying to work according that and execute the plans but some time we failed we did hardwork for achieving that goal, hard work is not about to have a physical effort but we need to execute well with time management there is something we plan which we called smart way for achieving the goal.

When we do some work with more efforts and time then it's hard work.
But when we do same work with fewer efforts and time then it's a smart work.
(Here's no matter what type of work is there it may be physical work or mental work).

Hard work is not aimless. Hard work doesn't leave the aim until you fulfil your desire, whereas smart work includes some strategies that may get success are may not get success.

Hard work naively means about working for hours without time management. On the other hand, smart work is all about managing the time, utilising and understanding the value of time and work in a better managing way.
