Yeah, it's very simple,

Hard work - Determination. (At any cost work must be done!).

Smart work - think before you work. That's smart work.

According to me, A person must have both ability to work hard and think smart on situation.

Sir in my opinion hard work leads smart work.

If you work hard in the beginning you can learn new things. Which can help you to work smartly in hard work your body leads. But in smart work your brain leads.

H.W makes work longer, more complex and energy consuming.

S.W is like intermediate take very less time for completing work and more often it makes your task more simpler than what actually it is and save your valuable energy, which may allow you to do more work with the same energy uses.
