Hardwork:-one boy who does not have any idea about next exam syllabus and he is doing (Study) all the things. And of course, he will get good marks as he was doing everything. Its called hard work (without any direction).
Smartwork:- another boy who has an idea about next exam syllabus and he is just doing only that things which help him to get good marks. Its called smart work. (with direction).

Hard work is nothing but putting lots of efforts to achieve something.
Smart work is putting fewer efforts to achieve in less time which we want.

For e.g. to complete a team work on time.
Assigning an equal task to all members and work day and night - hard work.
Assigning a member task he/she is proficient at- smart work.

As for my view, hard work means doing the work with full focus and concentration all the knowledge you know about that to apply with full physical and mental work and smart work is doing the work easily with less wastage time saving and with 100percent efficiency.
