In my opinion,
NOTA should not be there in EVM. Because if we allow nota people will press nota for silly reasons. Instead of NOTA Election Commission should ensure the candidate background if he has no criminal record then only he should allow in the election. Then people don't have to press NOTA if all candidate is capable of serving in politics. The second reason is it gives more chance to form a new political party like we know in India right now we have more than 100+ regional party and 7national level party even then many people are not satisfied with them or their work. So they use nota or make their own party. Let see the recent eg where 50 IIT Graduates left their job and made their own party and also superstar like Rajnikant and Kamal Hasan comes up with their own regional party. In this way, there are so many parties are getting form. Here I think Election commission should not give a ticket to who have a criminal record or any past record which show his lack of capability. Once all candidate will be upto mak or choice of people of that area they will definitely vote him or her. Thank You.

In my opinion, there should not be an option for NOTA (None of the Above) on an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). Allow me to explain why. Consider a scenario where three candidates, A, B, and C, are contesting an election. A significant portion of the population in a particular region does not wish to vote for any of these three candidates. However, there are some individuals who vote in favor of Candidate A unanimously, let's assume that's 25% of the total votes. Additionally, 50% of the votes have been cast against the NOTA option, indicating that these voters do not support the idea of choosing any of the candidates. Furthermore, 25% of eligible voters do not even turn up to vote on election day.
In this situation, Candidate A would likely emerge as the winner, even though they may not have substantial support from the majority of the electorate. The NOTA, however, option can be given after removing the concept of 75 %. It should be at least 50 % so that there would be a chance of re-election, considering that a large number of the voters do not want any of these candidates.
Thank you!

Hello, everyone.
Although NOTA may prove a good way to express one's dissatisfaction towards the participating candidates in an election but on practical grounds, this scheme may even worsen the present situation because of the following reasons.
1) In Indian democracy where the majority of votes are disposed on the basis of religion, caste or creed. The NOTA votes (in the minority) in a poll may count for nothing and even a candidate rejected with more than half of voters may win the election.
2) If the NOTA votes are in majority then the re-election process will occur which will obviously cost some time and money but that is not a permanent solution of the problem as a similar type of situation may raise again and again.
The root cause of such situation in our nation is the participation of unworthy candidates in an election which can be only solved by employing a proper system for shortlisting candidates having certain clauses such as no criminal background, or a psychometric test for judging mentality, personality, intelligence etc.

NOTA should not be included as an option because,
1) If more people supports NOTA, there might be chances of failure of election and re-election will be there which results in wasting of money and time, management problems and might be people will not come next time for voting.
2) Corruption will be more as if corrupted candidates try to put poor peoples in their favour.
And even if there is only less number of people's involve in voting, chances of winning of the corrupted candidate will be more.
3) One candidate should be there to rule a territory, but in case of NOTA, there might be chances that no candidate select by common peoples and require re-election.
4) Not give a deserving candidate.
5) Because of distribution of votes, less no.of votes represent true candidate which might result in false selection.
6) In India, most of the peoples are poor and illiterate, mostly in village, are unaware of results of NOTA,
7) If NOTA is there, then it is similar to non-voting, (voting is to choose any candidate).

Hello everyone!
Today our discussion topic is should voters be given a NOTA choice?
Some favourable facts are.
1. For increasing the vote percent it is very beneficial because many voters think none of the candidate are suitable for the post, so the can press nota.
2. Analysis of the bad or good candidate in a particular region is easily done by calculating nota percentage.
3. Aggression of public on the government is also show by democratic way by giving nota option.
4. Your vote power is not in other hands, if you are note give the votes, there are many cases on the basis of your name vote is given to a particular Candidate.
Some unfavorable facts are.
1. Nota votes are like a waste in dustbin, no matter how much percent nota votes are ?
After subtracting nota votes which candidate is in majority wins easily. Means nota have no power so why government make fool by given nota. (except Maharashtra).
2. If there are no provisions after calculating nota percentage it is not benificial.

Dear friends, reading your views on NOTA in this forum was an enriching experience.
I am personally against NOTA in Indian elections scenario.
Elections are held to choose leaders from among people, by the people, through voting. Every member of society must vote for the best candidate from within their society. A society that does not even allow and support its good candidate to come forward for election has no right to deny the candidates in an election.
"What you sow, so shall you reap.".
If people want a change, they should let deserving people come forward and support them even against their personal gains.
"Give to society what you want from society in return". You give NOTA, you get NOTA.
All those who wish for a change but never act on it choose NOTA and put the blame on a system. As the count of such voters increase, count of NOTA voters will go up and will cause instability in governance.
Awareness is important and so is the need for right conscience. NOT NOTA.

The topic of discussion is NOTA choice should be given or not. NOTA means None Of the Above. It is given to voters to show discontent in voters about their candidates. Yes, it does not have the power to change the result or to declare reelection in the state but with these people who found no one eligible for their vote would come and vote so it would increase the voting number. Also, if the number of real voters increases then fake voting also decreases it will also force the political parties to reconsider their candidates if NOTA is exercised more in an area. So it is a way for ensuring better candidates. Also, NOTA is the better option than earlier practices in which if you would choose none of above then your identity will not be safe which is against rules of our election. And no doubt if NOTA is the winner than the party would never install the same candidate again. So I think even if NOTA is weak but still a solution to our some problems.

Yeah!
In my point of view, ECI should not provide an option to select NOTA, Let me explain reason in 3 points.
1. People will take it so casually, and select NOTA as a choice for some silly reasons like, their caste people haven't got a ticket.
2. There are some lazy people, who don't take the responsibility of selecting a good leader, Instead of analyzing party plans they simply select NOTA and say "I don't have political knowledge", But being in a democratic country everyone should know about the happening of politics because your vote is not only useful for you. It shows a big difference when counted collectively.
3. Instead of providing NOTA, the ECI should do good work while confirming nominations, they should check the history of the person. Also, it will be the best practice if ECI changes the rule to "Only certified/educated candidates are allowed to nomination process ". So the dissatisfaction rate people will decrease.
Thank you.

Hello everyone.
I am Narinder, in my point of view, there should be a NOTA option in EVM because sometimes if the people think no candidate is right for our nation they can press the NOTA option and it is seen that some people don't vote just because they don't find a candidate they required. If there if more than 75%of votes are given to NOTA there will be re-election and other Candidates get a chance.
As every coin has two sides it has also some demerits.
- People will press the NOTA option just because of some silly reason.
- govt should ensure the background of each candidate is properly before being chosen for election.
Then there will be no need to add NOTA.
- some people would press NOTA to give chance to the candidate of their party who is not selected.
At last, I want to say this is a very good initiative of adding the NOTA option because it has more merits than demerits.
Thank you.

Yes, NOTA option should be available as we are democratic public and have all rights to cast out opinion, if NOTA candidate got maximum votes it means simply election commission and parties should choose candidates again who are potential and philanthropists as most of the time candidates get ticket on behalf of offering huge amount of money to parties, it will cater corruption and malpractices especially who has criminal records and want to wash off hands through politics.
Again and re-election might create time gap and delay in administration so it should allow either twice or thrice.
This option will put pressure for parties if they won't work better then nobody will go for them.
Major of public 20-30% don't cast vote every year cause political leaders are actually not shaping Indian growth in the right way and we lost.
Partially our trust in bureaucracy so this step will be more effective.
