Well others have already given their opinion mentioning some pros and cons but lastly solution matters. So heading to solution the followings are things ought to be done:

1) What I personally believe a person can't stop smoking only on instructing him pros and cons side. So uprooting this habit we have to work on ground level i.e. school children. Taking them to cancer hospital and have conversation with emotionally strong patients regarding it's effect on social life like he may advice "When your family needs you most, you are not there".

2) Incorporate "How to tackle with pressures, tensions etc". Chapter with the Human Values subject being taught in schools and give it an important part of scoring like ratio 30:100, so that the students can inculcate theory in life by regular reading for exams.

Practicing above said lines will establish a strong will to youths from not only going for cigarettes but also for ill stuffs like alcohol, drugs etc. And make themselves healthy, wealthy and wise.

First of all, as you all know smoking is injurious to health, It may lead to lung cancer and many other diseases.

It not only affects the person who smokes but more than the person who surrounded around the smoking person. So yes smoking should be banned completely but slowly not instantly because so many are addicted to smoke. So if we instantly banned smoking they use another thing to fulfill their needs. And the most important thing banned completely means banned in all ways that no any single piece of cigarette should be sold in an illegal way. As we all know in India, anything that is banned, it is being sold in somewhere in an illegal way. So government has to take proper action against this if any.

Yes, I completely agree with statement that smoking should be banned. It is very injurious for our health it causes many diseases. Government has banned Maggi because it is injurious for health but why doesn't they ban cigarettes it is 100 times more harmful than Maggi because they are getting taxes from it.

But government should ban smoking by keeping in mind that it is harmful for people not only smoker but also who are nearby of smoker.

Undoubtedly, smoking is hazardous for health, however, imposing a complete ban on it doesn't sound viable to me.

To begin with, cessation of tobacco producing industries will take away the jobs of several workers with it, thus, unemployment would rise to a certain extent. Other thing is that government's major portion of revenue comes from tax on tobacco products, therefore, the earnings of the government would also hamper.

So, in order to prevent people from smoking, firstly, various awareness programs should be launched which aware people about the detrimental effects of smoking. Moreover, the supply of these products should be reduced and to those below 18, it shouldn't be sold.

To conclude, by adopting above mentioned ways, it would be handy to curb people's crave for smoking without putting a complete ban on it.

Thanks.

The companies who manufacturer these cigarettes and harmful substances should be closed off. They are harming the society as well as they are minting money of the youth and degrading the quality of youth.

Well, I think banning cigarettes will definitely help a lot of people quit smoking. Because when a thing is not available easily, people try to do away with it. Besides government should also ensure no one indulge in its hoarding, black marketing. If anyone is found doing so, he must be penalized heavily as a deterrent to others. This is the only solution, because enough awareness drives have yielded no positive results. Rather consumption has increased. Shockingly, a large percentage of smokers are educated people. A lot of people think smoking a status symbol.

So to conclude, cigarettes or any tobacco products should be banned and the ban should be implemented strictly and honestly. Thanks.

Smoking doesn't need to be banned but should be regulated instead.

India is the second largest tobacco market after China, over 120 million Indians smoke.

Bidi covers almost 85% of the smoking market.

The problem with banning is the loss of the revenue obtained in the form of taxes and loss of employment to people depending on this industry.

Moreover, the world bank recommends a taxing of 65-85% when it comes to tobacco products which are a mere 4% in case of bids and 40% in case of cigarettes in India.

Banning would simply lead to black marketing and loss of taxes which we have already faced in case of Pan Masala and Gutka products.

So increasing the taxes to the standard rates will increase the revenue and would regulate the smoking to some extent.
