Hello Friends,

I totally agree with the fact that problems unite us, as we have seen many crises from the Kargil war to Operation Sindoor, and the Gujarat earthquake to the floods in Uttarakhand. People always unite together no matter what the religion or caste is because during a crisis, it's survival that matters.

We don't know who actually made the COVID-19 vaccine and what their religion was; we don't know who carries the secret untold missions to protect the sovereignty and integrity of India.

In fact, if we look at the global scale, India not only helps its allies but also any country in crisis, irrespective of the religion people hold there.

The idea that religion divides us, is not completely acceptable. It always depends upon the person perceiving it, the value he/she got from its house, the type of group of people they follow.

I love the concept of "SARV DHARMA STHAL" in the Indian defence forces, where mandir, masjid, gurudwara and church exist together in the same place, showing great unity in diversity.

I'm a Hindu, but I have immense love for Sikhism. Anyone and everyone can walk into the gurudwara irrespective of religion, caste, creed, or nation and have langar there.

I also appreciate the unity muslims posses during their religious practices. These days, you can also see the grand rallies of Hindus during Ram Navami, Hanuman Janmotsav etc.

In the end, I would like to conclude that religion was never meant to divide but to unite people through festivals, langar, good deeds, etc.

While the statement says ‘problems unite us and religion divides us, ’ I would like to present a more balanced perspective.

Historically, religion was not created to divide people. It actually played a crucial role in organising societies. In earlier centuries, religion acted as a framework for governance, social order, and moral guidance, often tailored to specific geographies. For example, practices evolved based on local conditions, culture, and challenges people faced.

In that sense, religion originally united communities by giving them a shared identity, purpose, and value system.

However, over time, especially with conquests, migrations, and political interests, religion began to be used as a tool for differentiation and sometimes conflict. So the division we see today is less about religion itself and more about how it is interpreted or used.

In today’s globalised world, problems like climate change, gender inequality, education gaps, and economic instability are universal. These challenges cut across religions and clearly require collective action.

Therefore, I believe religion should remain a personal and individual choice, something that guides one’s values and self-reflection but should not interfere with social harmony or collective progress.

Ultimately, it is not religion that divides us, but the lack of evolved understanding. If we respect diversity while focusing on shared human problems, both religion and unity can coexist.

I completely agree with this statement.

Problems unite us, and religion divides us.

When people face problems like natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, and so on, they usually help each other without considering religion. All religions work together to save lives. In such times, we feel that humans come first, and unity becomes stronger.

On the other hand, religion can divide people because different religions have different beliefs and traditions. If they are rigid towards their values and ethics and think that our religion is based on right beliefs and values, that may lead to conflicts and violence. Such behaviour creates a separation of unity.

At last, I would like to say that we should focus on humanity rather than differences. Religion should teach peace and love instead of difference.

Hi, I am Novaraj.

Hello everyone.

In my point of view, religion is an important thing that in society because people believe in different types of gods in society and also different thinking and different perspectives.

For example, in musim anyone marrying twice was considered normal, but in Hindu culture, it was considered wrong, and in Christianity, it was also considered wrong.

That is create some conflict and fights that why we are doing those regional divisions.

And also creating big wars also creates that.

We respect every region and respect all regions' philosophies.

Hi everyone.

It's great to be a part of this wonderful group discussion.

I agree with the statement, and as many said its tru,e but has anyone seen religion dividing people?

If you ask people something like "hey, if you are Hindu stick to that problem (e.g traffic, pollution, etc.) and if muslim stick to that problem, then they must unite and stand still without worrying about the fact. Now tell me which one has united the people and which one separated. I mean, maybe problems united, but still, religion has a deeper root.

It's true that we all unite by problems and divide by religions.

Because the problems are pollution, traffic, and many more things like there is no more education system, which we all face, no matter what your religion is, because everybody travels, they are all stuck in traffic and get affected by pollution, but no one wants to discuss, as religion comes first.

I agree with the statement. In every difficult situation, India has stayed strong and fought with dignity. In the past, we have gone through many problems in which the people stayed together, which shows strength among people and unity. But the situation these days has changed, and people do not show any unity, and they only talk about religion, which is not a positive sign in the growth of our country.

Hi everyone,

I would also like to present my views on the topic, although I completely agree with the first part, that problems unite us. Many instances prove the point, like during natural disasters, all community unites and helps each other.

The religion is something I partially agree with, everyone is proud of ones religion and every religion teaches to be peaceful and a good human. But I think there are some people in every religion that follow the religion just for the sake of it and don't follow it correctly, and that's what makes the difference.

In my personal opinion, some religions are not fit to be considered religion as they act as a cult and their followers blindly believe anything without proper consideration and perform various inhumane acts in the name of religion.

These brainwashed believers are also the root cause of the problem.

Hello everyone, from my perspective.

I completely agree with the statement that problems unite us. We can see many examples of this in real life. If you face any problem and people do not unite, either by thought or by strength, it becomes very difficult to find a solution.

For instance, during floods in Punjab, people from both Punjab and Haryana stood together, supporting each other to overcome the damage and loss.

On the other hand, regarding the idea that religion divides us, I personally disagree. I have observed that in many popular places—such as Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh or the Gurudwara in Agra, Uttar Pradesh—people visit regardless of their religion.

They come together to pay respect, which shows that religion does not necessarily divide us. In fact, it can unite people in shared values of peace and devotion.

Hello Everyone !! Thank you for giving me the opputunity to be the part of group discussion.
In my opinion , I partially agree with the topic. The very first part, "Problems unite us" is completely true. We have many examples proving this statement true. For example, when the massive earthquake hit the lands of Kutch Bhuj Gujarat entire country stand together to help the victims .

The very next part of the Religion divides us is not true with respect to my perspective. It depends on the preachers who guides the listeners or devotees . They are responsible to guide them in the right direction because religion is a sensitive topic and people or devotees trust the preachers blindly.
Thank You!
