I totally agree with the topic........... Now a days, everyone prefers to live a comfortable life. Money is a prime need for everyone in this modern and developing world. And MBA is a field where you can make money easily..Here, the packages which are offered are really high and also jobs are gaurenteed.........Thats why, most of our young generation is prefering to join MBA.Therefore, acording to me, in India, MBA is over- rated..

Even though there is high demand for MBA graduates in our country, our country needs almost 5, 00, 000 MBA graduates who are efficient. I wanted to highlight the word efficient because most of them are just finishing their degree in order to acquire high packages. But there is a lot of difference between students who finish their MBA in B-schools and who finish their MBA in local colleges. People who will get MBA degrees from top most B-schools are really efficient because they will have practical exposure where as most of us will just have theoretical knowledge. Every one knows that MBA is an ever green field and is becoming more popular now a days, so every individual is competing for various competitive exams like XAT, CAT, FFS, MAT. Etc to get admissions in top most B-schools.

I think it depends on the students that what kind of job prospects they have for their future. If they want to do the job accordingly in Indian economy and domestic management so there a bunch of prestigious colleges in our country.
But if somebody has a different job prospects and he wants to keep pace with the GLOBAL ECONOMY and work with the fastest growing culture so my recommendation is for UK and USA. These countries have a lot of esteemed university which gives you a complete GLOBAL personality that the market demands and you may design your career as CEO or CMD of any bluechip company in around the world.
All the reputed chairmans or a business tykon of our nation have got their higher education from abroad like.
1) ANIL AMBANI (MBA in Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, USA. ).
2) ANAND MAHINDRA (MBA degree from the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts).
3) RATAN TATA (Harvard Business School in 1975).
And the foremost person is the prime minister of India.
*) DR. MANMOHAN SINGH has also got their education from at St John's College, Cambridge, 1955 and 1957.
So again I repeat my words that it's all depend on students how do they want to design their career.

I completely discard the point of job security raised by Sachin as no of job looser were highest at the time of recent slump.
And also MBA are not that much over rated because till in ruler India comprising 60%of the population govt jobs are much vaunted.

In my opinion over rating of MBA is because students think the job security after MBA is much more than any other postgraduate degree.
Now a days doing MBA is a fashion. And through word of communication student perceived the growth in management sector after MBA is very rapid.

Friends. I think over rating of MBA is not due to the reason that the students want high qualification but the reason is the high and attractive package they'll get after MBA. Students are more interested in package than MBA.
More over not only the Commerce students are go for MBA but also the science background students also try for it after B. Tech. And also from other fields.
But do you think that after MBA from a good college, a student is able to perform his job until he gets the practical knowledge of that work.
I think that practical knowledge is more important than grasping the books from a reputed college.
India needs such kind of colleges which will provide practical knowledge more than the bookish knowledge.

Yes I think that MBA in India is not enough because colleges that impart business knowledge most of them are not capable of it, since they do't give case studies.

Now a day MBA is generally preferred by students because of security of the job after the degree, so I with the point that "MBA in India is highly Over-rated".

Yes it's true that MBA in India is highly overrated this may be due to the high salary packages given to the individuals after completing MBA. These days everyone wants to do MBA and the main reason for this is that the scope of growth in this field is much more when compared to any other field.
Also its open for any graduate from any field for e. G. The scope for a simple arts graduate is nowhere but when the same graduate completes his MBA from any top b school of India his importance is much more increased. Not only graduates but also software engineers are moving towards MBA because of promising growth as well as high salary packages.
