I want to ask a question that what is the purpose of attending class above 75 % attendence?

The answer is just for learning and gaining knowledge but you know very well that every teacher are not able to do this kind of knowledge or subject which are not interesting and just for making the marks.

And college assume that we are workers just doing duty from 9 to 5 not at all we are students who wants to make career with our interest and grow our skills but all that happens not in a limitation. Learning is a thing that can take from anywhere, anytime but not in prison where they are forcing you to do something that is not understandable and beneficial for their growth.

At the end I collect my points and conclude that 40-50 % attendence is enough apart from 75 college can give the tasks which is beneficial for their future.

Thank you.

Hi everyone.

Actually, I don't think so. From my point of view, attendance will not going measure the punctuality of an individual. If teachers will teach something productive along with the usual syllabus it will definitely put some interest in a individual to attend the classes. Thank you.

Yes, attendance gives clarity to the parents whether their child attending to the college or not, and if there is a need to guide the children they can do that and if there is any problem to the child, they can solve the problem.

Hi, everyone.

In my opinion, there should not be compulsory attendance in College because students are mature enough to take the decision to go or not to go college. It depends mainly upon the quality of the education provided in that class. I believe that a teacher is a performer, it's his capacity and caliber to engage the students so that they can't bunk.

Well, talking about attendance in colleges is compulsory or not is an important topic, if the college teaching techniques are well enough to make the student attentive to attend a regular class. Then it seems to be very important for them but if not then attendance is not compulsory so, At last, I would like to say that if the environment of college is happier or like or feels like a collegian attendance of every student automatically becomes a regular student. And then this problem of attendance or short attendance will not occur.

Attendance in classes has been considered as an integral part of college curriculum. Should attendance in classes be compulsory? In my humble opinion, it should not be.

1) There are many students who need to prepare for competitive exams like banking, SSC etc. along with their academic course. They need extra time to cope up with the two. In such a case, compulsory attendance becomes a fact to worry.

2) There are students who have a good command on basics and have the ability to study themselves, and to levels deeper than what are witnessed in classes. Such students may study even without a teacher.

3) In some colleges, teachers do not teach well; attending classes holds no special significance.

Thus, I feel that compulsory attendance is not needed in college level. Those who feel that they require external instruction must be allowed to take, while those who think they can do well by studying at home, should not be forced for regular attendance. Such students may be permitted to attend classes corresponding to a topic they did not understand at home. I feel that there must be such provisions.

I don't think so. Because many of them want to follow their passion. Or wants to do something else. Apart from their degree. I can take the example of one of my friend. Abhishek, he is pursuing B-Tech in mining engineering from IIT Dhanbad. But he is not comfortable with this. So his main focus is UPSE. In fact he is preparing for UPSE. But I had seen his hard work. He is really facing lots of problem due to the attendance. What is the use of that attendance if we are not benefited.

As we all that what is important in our college life to get decent GPA? We just have to studies 10 days before the exam. So why we are wasting 3-4 months by sitting in the class. If we don't have the pressure from the academic then we really follow our passion.

Because everyone has their own characteristics.

So, if you are not interested in that branch then find something in which you are good at.

It doesn't mean that I'm saying the same thing for the schools. Becoz school is that which mould our personalities. So compulsory attendance in school is good. But not in college.

Hello everyone.

According to me, attendance in college should not be compulsory because in college we get only theoretical knowledge but in today's Era a person should have a good command of particle aspects. One should learn things apart from subjects and should get involved in other activities and learn.

I think attendance should be compulsory in COLLEGES.

1- First of all, if we have opted for regular degree course, why there should be leniency to the attendance. It should be there i.e.min. Of 60% to 75% of total college days. If someone really doesn't want to attend regular college, he/she should opt for distance learning college program.

2- Marks should not be assigned to the attendance as students just go to college for those 5-10 marks and don't take classes seriously. They watch videos or play games on mobile in classes. It is mere waste of resources.

3- Alternative should be that there should be a continuous evaluation of student attending the classes and mark should be given on basis of how active they are in class activities and studies. This will increase the quality as well as attendance in colleges.

4- Many students gives excuses that they are preparing for a particular competitive exam like CAT, GATE, UPSC etc. These excuses cannot be taken seriously. First of all, when we take admission in college we know that we are interested in a subject and we really want to purse it. If someone wants to prepare he should prepare for these exams in free time or manage things as possible. But not attending college can't be the excuse, as it was our choice at the beginning to do.

Again I want to give the people the alternative that is distance learning program.

5- Working for a college project or course project can be left out from the compulsion of attendance. But in that case also, evaluation project should be done properly by the college authorities.

Last but not the least curriculum of college should be improved so that student really want to attend classes. Evaluation of teacher should be there i.e. whether they are teaching properly or just passing time. There should be anonymous review of teacher through students through rating or be reviewing.

In my point of view, compulsory attendance really needed in college, as student teacher interaction is very important, it cannot be replaced by online resources. Gaining knowledge from teachers is more time consuming than getting notes and preparing during the exam time.
