Is compulsory attendance really needed in college?

Hello everyone.

For me, a minimum percentage of attendance is compulsory like 30% not more than that. Because if 75% or more than that attendance makes a student's regular habit, not productive. We always want to make a student qualitative not quantitative so that each of students knows their duties and works hard for their goal. So minimum attendance is required for the interaction with teachers by which they can clear their doubts and analyze their potential and fault and rectify it further.

So, I strongly believe that minimum compulsory attendance is must required.

According to me, yes, sometimes attendance is compulsory but in another sense it is not.

There are two types of people one who are lazy and don't want to do anything only to stay at home watching Netflix etc all the time for that person it must be compulsory because they will atleast go to college and sit in the classroom and for 75% attendance they attend class and learn something when they can't use mobile then they have only one thing is to sit silent and study.

But on another sense attendance should not be compulsory for those who are motivated towards their goal they know what they are doing and they have decided their path they need not to come college for study and to attend college because sometimes we came college and nothing happens in class that is mere only waste of time for those students.

And yes, attendance must so that students can come college make groups introduce themselves take part in co-cirrcular activity and enjoy college life that is most important part of life and they will connect to college and studies.

I don't find any logic behind compulsory attendance. If the teacher cannot create interest in the class, there is no point in attending his classes regularly. Our aim of going to the class is to gain knowledge and if that is missing I don't really know why should we go. There are teachers who just come to the class and start reading monotonously form the slides without any interest for explanation. It is a known fact that there are some teachers who may be brilliant researchers but output in the class is nill. That is understandable. The point of not going to the class is not disrespecting the teachers but to stop wasting our times. Definitely the time that is gained by not going to the class should be utilised in studying those topics in details and then approaching the respective teacher with doubts. I believe he/she will very well be able to clear the doubts because he is a professor and has in-depth knowledge. The only problem was he couldn't express himself in front of a full classroom. So in my opinion, college classes should be made optional and a student should attend the classes of those teachers whom he fills can clear his doubts, This may vary from student to student.

As per my point of view, attendance should not be compulsory in college, in my opinion, it kills the productivity of the child, if someone wants to works on his own startup, project or any other his/her field orientated studies, but they can't think of that because of compulsory attendance in college. Some of them have to sit in boring lectures and wasting their time.

So, in my opinion, attendance should not be compulsory for all.

According to my point of view, everything has good and bad sides. I think the students those who are only entertainment-oriented and don't have any interest to do anything, for them it should be compulsory. Because through this they can sit silently in the class instead of using mobile phones and at least listen to the words what the lecturer says. Rather they think whatever maybe but they can gain the ability that how to sit constantly for 45 minutes.

On the other hand, it should not be mandatory for those who have already set their goals and have a proper idea to achieve this. They don't think it necessary to come to college because sometimes we came to college and then the class is suspended that is the waste of time for those students.

Anyway attendance plays a very vital role in a students' life. It is a good sign. It makes them obedient, discipline and honest. So, it should be compulsory for every student.

Of course, attendance should be compulsory because if we go to college for attendance then our discipline & punctuality will stay & regular with the study. If we attend the classes then we can improve our skill, sharp our mind like whatever thing we are missing in our study then this thing we can cover up by teachers & about interest then if one time we will attend the classes then automatically interest will come & enjoy the class.

According to me, attendance should be compulsory in college. We see students everyday goes to the college but when examining time comes they sit for agitation because college authority does want to allow many students to sit for exam because they don't have adequate attendance. Actually students when they go to college they get the freedom and not only that boys come from Boys school and girls come from girls school but in college most of the co-education so they get chance to make friendship with the opposite sex and as a result they like gossip send time to go to the picture, visiting here and there in this way they spend there. But student life is very golden life if they can't study properly then they will not get chance in reputed sector and parents they spend their hand money for their children future. So according to in college there is strict rule for compulsory attendance then they have no choice they have to attend the class and accordingly they will prepare for their study as well as exam. In there future they will get lot of time for their entertainment but they should not waste their time in student life. They should concentrate in their study.

As per my opinion if I go within positive direction of this topic attendance should be compulsory in colleges but there are two factors most of the colleges bounded the student by some rules and regulations 75% attendance is mandatory for every student but in actual condition, it is fair or not, little bit thing about this it may seem like the only foundation to the student because if the college doesn't give such environment which they actually required for the students then it is not good for any student, it seems like only time waste also not beneficial for self-study purpose. If college gives that environment which are important for study purpose then attendance should be a minority for students.

In my opinion, attendance plays an important role in attending classes and maintain a focus of student towards their studies whether in school or in a college. Because if continuity in classes will break then it will affect their studies. So, attendance ensures discipline in academics.

But these days in some cases we have seen some students will tell at home that they are going to college for studying, but in reality, they will indulge in unnecessary things, and gradually waste their time and money.

But if a student has a valid reason for not attending some classes then they can be given some leverage depending on professor-student mutual understanding. And there should be transparency of attendance to their family if not having good attendance.
