Its seems ozone is the right answer, because carbon traps heat and ozone traps harmful UV rays. Ozone layer holes are dangerous because these allow UV rays from out world and result in skin cancer etc. That is why so much effort is put in conserving ozone layer and ozone depleting substances are either banned or their use is discouraged.

Infrared radiation is strongly absorbed by water vapour than Co2. Water vapour is less portion in atmosphere but Co2 is high. Due to Co2 in high portion it absorbed high amount of infrared radiation.

So I guess the answer is wrong it must be ozone layer because. Ozone absorbs uniquely a band of far infrared radiation, that otherwise has absolutely no harmful effects on life on Earth.

Firstly it is infrared not UV rays. And co2 is considered as one of the most important greenhouse gas as it absorbs the incoming solar radiations. It is co2.

The size of the atom of co2 is big to resist the uv rays coming from sun and density of co2 in the atmosphere is also one of the other reason for it.

CO2 is the right choice. Infrared means heat and co2 as we know it creates the greenhouse effect. The infrared ray is a quit different thing.

Carbon dioxide has both stretching and bending vibrations. So it absorbs all the infrared radiations strongly.

Both H2o and CO2 must be the answer because both of them fall under greenhouse gases and absorb irradiation.

CO2 being green house gas has ability to absorb infrared ray by which it main heat in our atmosphere.

Jashan has given the right answer others confused between UV&Infrared rays.
