The summer solstice occurs during a hemisphere's summer. This is northern solstice in the northern hemisphere and the southern solstice in the southern hemisphere. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the summer solstice occurs sometime between December 20 and December 23 each year in the southern hemisphere] and between June 20 and June 22 in the northern hemisphere in reference to UTC.

Sun apparently makes a sign curve on the equator of the Earth due to the tilt of its axis. Therefore, reverse season (Summer and Winter) are experienced in northern and southern hemispheres. On December, 22 the appears right on the Tropic of Capricorn, so the day is longest on this date (shortest night) in the Southern hemisphere and longest night and shortest day in Northern hemisphere.

First you people should understand what is southern hemisphere and northern hemisphere ?;India belongs to which hemisphere?

India belongs to northern hemisphere but they asked for southern hemisphere which is opposite to us. Australia belongs to southern hemisphere where summer comes in December therefore December 21 is the longest in southern hemisphere.

June 20-21 is start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere but simultaneously the start of winter in the Southern Hemisphere. It's also the longest day of sunlight for places in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day for cities south of the equator.
