Is a Graham Hooch vs India 333 + 123 = 456 in single test innings? Every single test has two innings not only one inning. It's about single test innings not about single test inning.

He is the first and only player to score more than 400 runs in an innings. Also, he got the record of the highest individual total in an innings till date. However, that match was a tie between Eng-WI.

Brain Lara scored 400 not out against England in 2004 breaking previous record 380 by Mathew Hayden against Zimbabwe in 2003.

He also has highest individual score in first class cricket as he scored 501* playing for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994, during his innings he got dropped on 18 by Durham wicket keeper Chris Scott and he went on to score 483 runs!

Lara scored 375 at first but later it was beaten by Matthew Hayden of Australia who scored 380 vs Zimbabwe. Exactly 6 months later Lara scored 400* vs England and reclaimed his record.
