Here is the reason.

In 1994, Brian Lara had first held the record scoring 375 against England before getting out while edging a tired drive to Russell off Caddick in the last over before lunch. In 2003, Matthew Hayden eclipsed his Test record for the highest individual score of 375 by five runs in 2003 scoring 380, but Lara was not the person to give up. 6 months later, he reclaimed the record scoring 400 not out in 2004 against England. With these innings, he became the second player to score two Test triple centuries, the second player to score two career quadruple centuries, the only player to achieve both these milestones, and regained the distinction of being the holder of both the record first-class individual innings and the record Test individual innings. He is the only player to break the world record twice. Two months later, he scored 501* in country cricket for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994, which is the only quintuple hundred in first-class cricket history!

So, of course, he has done so many records for the West Indies team! It is said that he contributed to 20 percent of the West Indians' runs! What a Record!

Why he is a legend for test cricket in West Indies? Tell me the reason.

Lara scored 375 at first but later it was beaten by Matthew Hayden of Australia who scored 380 vs Zimbabwe. Exactly 6 months later Lara scored 400* vs England and reclaimed his record.

He scored 400 not out against England.

Brain Lara scored 400 not out against England in 2004 breaking previous record 380 by Mathew Hayden against Zimbabwe in 2003.

Lara scored 11953 runs in test cricket in 131 test with 34 hundreds. He also has highest individual score in first class cricket as he scored 501* playing for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994, during his innings he got dropped on 18 by Durham wicket keeper Chris Scott and he went on to score 483 runs!

He scored 400 runs against England, and broke the record of M. Hayden for 375.
