It was played between Australia and England on 15th march 1887. Charles Bannerman became the batsman to play the first ball of an international match. He hit 165 runs and was retired hurt. Australia won this match by 45 runs.
And an interesting thing for you.
Correct after 100 years on the same date Australia once again defeated England by 45 runs. Isn't it amazing?
