It happens because in solids the amplitude of wave is less then other medium therefore distance travelled is less in solids therefore speed is increased.

sound travels more in steel. . . ex. consider a bore rod give a blusty of noise in that it will show

Velocity of sound in solid is maximum.

Sound waves travels faster in steel compare to others.

As sound waves are longitudinal waves they travel faster in solid medium compared to liquid and gas.

Sound travels faster solids than in liquid and gases.

It happens in solids because molecules in solids are tightly packed.

Why did iron come last within air water iron if sound is at its maximum in solid?

Correct. The speed of sound is more in solids than in liquids and gases.
