If a quantity can have magnitude and direction to determine as well as is called a vector.
If a quantity can have magnitude and unit to determine As well as is called scalar.
On another hand. If two quantities contain the dot product between them then the 3rd. The quantity which is determined by these two is scaler and. If contain cross product then it is called a vector.

Work is defined as a dot product (or scalar product) of force and displacement, both of which are vectors.
A scalar product of two vectors gives a scalar result.
dW= Fs cos theta
Where F & s are the magnitude of the vectors.
(Theta being the angle between the vectors).

It is only angular momentum which has both direction and magnitude.
