Genetic engineering is the process that change a defective gene in the help of some enzyme i.e.- restriction endonuclease. Cut a special site of dna and join a new special gene with the help of enzymes.

The word "engine" derives from Old French engine, from the Latin genning"the root of the word ingenious. Pre-industrial weapons of war, such as catapults, treacherous and battering rams, were called "siege engines", and knowledge of how to construct them were often treated as military secrets.

The word "gin", as in "cotton gin", is short for "engine". Most mechanical devices invented during the industrial revolution were described as engines"the steam engine being a notable example.

Genetic engineering may be defined as a process of manipulation of DNA by adding or removing the genetic material.

This is also known as recombinant DNA-technology or are DNA-tech.

There are two components which promoted the field of genetic engineering. They are RESTRICTED ENDONUCLEASE or Molecular scissors, which can cut molecules at specific sites and DNA ligase or molecular pastes, which can join molecular fragments.
