The Rajya Sabha is a permanent House. The Rajya Sabha (council of state) is a upper house of parliament they cannot be dissolved. Each (maximum 250) member of Rajya Sabha is elected for a term six years. 1/3rd of its total member retire after every two years.

I think it's five years after the 44th bill amendment.

The period is for six year in 42 bill which was later again changed in 44th bill amendment.

Total member in council of state 250 but not total 250 member are 238 the rajya sabha elected 12 nominated by president of India for example lecture, sport music art, permanent house in rajya sabha.

ALTHOUGH THE RAJYA SABHA THE UPPER HOUSE IS THE PERMANENT HOUSE WITH THE TENURE OF THE 6 YEARS BUT EACH TWO YEAR TIME ENTERWAL 1/3 OF ITS MEMBERS ARE REPLACED, ALTHOUGH THE CHANGE PERIOD IS 2.
