It is known as quorum (total 1/10 members are compulsory for proceeding the parliament.

It's a constitutional demand that if a session is to be held, 1/10th of the Lok Sabha members must be present, which is also known as quorum as Mr.Ambrish wrote!

It is prerequisite the required number of embers to attend to convene the meetings of the Lok sabha i.e. called as Quorum which must be the 1/10th of the total number of members of Lok sabha. The speaker has to decide weather quorum is present are not.

Why it is written 1/10 of houses? Why mentioned houses, when we consider only Lok Sabha?

'Houses' must be a mistake. But this case is same for both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
