The theory of the economic drain of India during British imperialism was primarily propounded by Dadabhai Naoroji, an Indian intellectual, educator, and early leader in the Indian independence movement. Naoroji's work, particularly his book "Poverty and Un-British Rule in India, " published in 1901, extensively argued how British colonial policies led to the economic exploitation and impoverishment of India.

In 1867, Dadabhai Naoroji proposed what is known as the 'economic imperialism' theory, in which he stated that British economic policies were completely draining India. He mentioned this theory in his book, Poverty and Un-British Rule in India, and it is also known as the 'Drain Theory.

The correct answer is Dada Bhai Naoroji as in his book the ancient India and Britishers he has written about the economic drain during mid 17 s, the main reason of this was to encourage the people of that time to raise voice against British rule as he was also one of the followers of the path of dignity at that time his father made a contribution to his motherland.

''The transfer of resources and wealth from India to England without providing "any equivalent return" which began in the second half of the eighteenth century had been christened by Indian "'non-practicing"' economists like Dadabhai Naoroji, M. G. Ranade, R. C. Dutt as the "economic drain". The drain theory "which Indian thinkers made their own" was as old as Rammohun Roy, through Naoroji and others it came to Gandhi.

The book was "poverty and unbritish rule in India" and the theory proposed by it was " drain theory" which explained how India's monetary resources were being drained and carried to England in the disguise of savings of officials, payment to war offices, etc.

In this theory, Naoroji elucidate the way in which the British is draining or eating up Indian wealth. For example, he says about the Cotton Sector in India. Raw Cotton is exported to England from India for almost free of cost.
