After the partition of India and erstwhile east Pakistan(present Bangladesh) most of the jute producing areas were under the latter for which Indian factories in West Bengal suffered from shortage of adequate raw materials. Moreover their were labour disputes which led to the shutting down of the jute mills.these were the main causes behind crisis of jute industry in India.

Stiff competition from synthetic fibre is one of the major cause of bad condition of jute industry in India.

Most of the uses of Jute has been replaced by synthetic material due to cheap in operational cost, easy to handle and many more. Its happens due to production of synthetic is low in cost.

- Raw material easily available in most of the part geographically.

- Handling with synthetic packing material is easy (while it is more harmful for ecology).

- It can use properly in any weather (Mostly in Rainy season is more accessible).

So the cause to be in crisis of jute is due to above synthetic packing material.

Hence Option 3 should also be responsible for the jute crisis.

Competition from synthetic fibre is also a loss for jute industries because synthetic fibre are cheaper than jute.

I think Option D is correct.

The answer given here is probably wrong. The major cause is stiff competition from synthetic fibre which is, of course, much cheaper and durable than that of jute.

Stiff competition is also one of the major reason. Hence answer should be all the above.
