Ya, Jammu and Kashmir is the only state in India which cultivates Saffron (Crocus sativus) , particularly found in Pampore area of district Pulwama and its adjoining regions. Now the government has launched a scheme under which incentives are given to the farmers to rise its cultivation.

Yes, the Jammu & Kashmir J&K) is the only state in India that produces saffron. The place in J&K where Saffron is mostly cultivated is Pampore area, District Pulwama, 13 km's from Srinagar city.

Uses of saffron. It adds colour to your skin (people's are saying. But I don't know if it's certain). Also used by women during pregnancy times so by consuming that her child may born with fair skin tone.

Karewas, a unique geographical landform found in Jammu and Kashmir aids in the propogation of the saffron plant. It is also called as zaffran(Not sure about the exact spelling).

Saffron also known as Kaiser, Zaffron and Kong (Kashmiri) is cultivated in Kariwas of district Pampore and Kashtiwar in J &K. And I love its beverage known as Kong Kehwa.

Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the saffron crocus. It is cultivated in Kashmir in India and in Greece and Spain in world.
