Deserts are located on western side of continents. This is because of the cold ocean currents are on west side of the continents. This make the air cold making it to lose it's moisture. Hence causing low or no rainfall on west sides. You can make this observation by looking at oceanic currents and location of deserts in continents. But Thar desert is due to absence of blocking mountains in north to cause orographic rainfall.

Deserts are located on western side in India because the planetary winds are easterlies which are sea to land causing heavy rainfall on eastern side and by the time they reach west the winds have shed all their moisture so dry winds leading to aridity and thus formation of forest.

Orographic or relief rainfall is caused when masses of air pushed by wind are forced up the side of elevated land formations, such as large mountains. The lift of the air up the side of the mountain results in adiabatic cooling, and ultimately condensation and precipitation.

This seems to be the correct explanation for the question. One important fact is all the Deserts of the world is located in the western part of the country. There again question arises why desert lie on western part of the country ?

The given answer is irrelevant as per the question concerned. Option- A, is the most prominent option because the geographical presence of Aravalli makes the Thar region unreachable for monsoon winds pass across.

I don't know how much your explanation is relevant in the real time but I commend the way you explain the logic.
Thanks Lady for the layman's explanation.

Isn't it because of the strategic location of Aravali hills, which cause maximum rainfall on the windward side and only dry air can reach the leeward side?

The answer should be 'the absence of mountains to the north of Rajasthan to cause orographic rainfall in it. I agree with it.
