There are eleven public undertakings under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways, viz:

IRCON INTERNATIONAL LIMITED (IRCON), a government company incorporated by the Central Government (Ministry of Railways) under the Companies Act, 1956 on 28th April, 1976 originally under the name Indian Railway Construction Company Limited,

All of them are under the administrative control of the Ministry of the Railway, Only diesel loco work is not. PSU is a company registered under the Companies Act 1956 it is directly a part of the India railway department.

The company was established in 1976, by the Government of India under The Companies Act, 1956.
IRCON was registered as the Indian Railway Construction Company Limited, a wholly owned entity of the Ministry of Railways.
