@Josephinerekha2.

Kathak and Kathakali are not same. Both are different dance styles.

Kathak is Evolved from storytelling traditions (katha). It Emphasizes rhythmic footwork, spins (chakkras), and expressive facial gestures.

Often performed in both Hindu and Mughal styles. It has 3 different Gharanas.

Where as Kathakali is a dramatic dance with elaborate costumes and makeup. It Combines dance, music, and acting to depict stories from epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Kathak is one of the eight forms of Indian classical dance. This dance form traces its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers. Its form today contains traces of temple and ritual dances, and the influence of the bhakti movement.
