=> Nuclear fission is caused by the impact of neutrons.
1) Nuclear fission is the process of splitting a heavy nucleus, such as uranium or plutonium, into two smaller nuclei of nearly the same mass.
2) During this process, the unstable radioactive nucleus is split into two smaller nuclei.
3) During this fission process, a huge amount of energy is produced further giving rise to radioactive elements as well as the release of many neutrons.
4) These neutrons can further induce a chain fission reaction in the nucleus of the uranium or plutonium and release more neutrons.
=> Nuclear fusion is a reaction through which two or more light nuclei collide to form a heavier nucleus.
1) The nuclear fusion process occurs in elements that have a low atomic number, such as hydrogen.

Neutron is used for nuclear fission because it can be controlled hence used for power generation.

During the carbon cycle or proton proton cycle neutron plays a main role here a proton reacts with a neutron.
