Diamonds are considered to b the hardest substance on earth, diamonds r brilliant & bright. The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,000miles per second but light slows down a little wen passing through a matter.Diamonds also bends and reflect light and break it up into the colours of the rainbow, which is what gives them their sparkle!

Diamond is the allotrope of carbon, which forms strong covalent bonds of sp3 over each other with out any space between them like cage structure. It is so strong that diamond is cuted by another diamond only.
