Because diamond is stronger than iron because a diamond can be cut other diamond only we can cut iron with the different cutters but for diamond it is not possible.

The toughness of platinum is in the range 50 - 135 MPa.m1/2 which is much greater than that in diamond which is in range 7.5 - 10 MPa.m1/2. And this property shows that platinum needs more force to be broken.

I get to know that diamond is a the hardest known metal in earth. It can't be broken easily and is given shape by another diamond.
Is it not amazing? We can break other metal (say iron) with cutters and all but diamond with diamond only.

Because of tightly presence of carbon bonding between each atom of diamond and its opaque nature diamond is the hardest material than platinum.
