All the metals are solid except of mercury i.e in form of liquid due to this reason it is in thermometer.

Mercury is liquid metal at all conditions. That's why we use thermometers to measure it.

Thermometers have mercury substrate. We can not keep iron bar and count on it to raise, as it is a solid.

Mercury is the metal which is in liquid form, all other metals will be in solid form.
