Tungsten was discovered by the Spanish brothers Fausto and Juan Jose de Elhuyar in 1783.

The Element Tungsten is defined as...
A hard, brittle, corrosion-resistant, gray to white metallic element extracted from wolframite, scheelite, and other minerals, having the highest melting point and lowest vapor pressure of any metal. Tungsten and its alloys are used in high-temperature structural materials; in electrical elements, notably lamp filaments; and in instruments requiring thermally compatible glass-to-metal seals.

Filaments in incandescent light bulbs are made of tungsten. When electric current goes through the filament, the filament glows. It may also be known as the electron emitting element in a vacuum tube. To make the bulb produce more light, the filament is usually made of coils of fine wire, also known as the coiled coil.

Tungsten can heat up to white hot state and this produces light as well as it increases the resistance of tungsten too. Therefore it is used in incandescent bulbs.

Why tungsten as used in bulbs in that place? Why not other elements?
